Interleukin-1 Receptor Antagonist Protein (IRAP)

IRAP is an anti-inflammatory therapy which blocks interleukin-1 (a major inflammatory substance that is released from the body in the event of an injury). If inflammation is blocked, further tissue injury can be prevented. To collect IRAP, we draw the horse’s blood and incubate it with specially designed glass beads, which intensify the production of IRAP. The blood is then processed and IRAP is drawn into syringes for immediate treatment or frozen for later treatments. IRAP is useful in treating joint inflammation and arthritis. It has been shown quite effective in treating joints that have stopped responding well to more traditional intra-articular therapy.
