Ultrasonography
Diagnostic ultrasound is used to "look inside" of soft tissue structures.
Most commonly for horse veterinarians, ultrasound is used for evaluation
of tendons and ligaments within the leg, (not to mention uterus,
heart etc...). However, as our equipment gains more resolution and
power, we are able to evaluate more musculoskeletal structures.
Examples include structures within the foot such as the deep digital
flexor tendon and collateral ligaments of the coffin joint, as
well as structures within the back, pelvis and the neck.
